Christmas Eve in Bethlehem

The newspaper reported that over 70,000 crossed the boarder into Bethlehem to celebrate Christmas Eve.  We were part of the group.  Here we are walking up the street past vendors to Manger Square.

We made it to Manger Square.  Once inside the church the kids find a small door to explore.

They had a life size nativity set up in the court yard.

 Inside the church

A large group of people from India were worshiping.  Hannah loved the Sari's the women wore.
 A beautiful little girl.
The procession was lining up to start.

The boys find something to keep them happy and busy.

This is  a large beautiful  mural on the wall.

The girls pose in front of  a niche dedicated to Mary.
 A mosaic of the Nativity.
More of the parade in the busy streets around Manger Square.

Here we are trying to get out of Bethlehem.  It was quite an ordeal.
 Sweet little lady bug Kate.

We made it to Shepard's Field.

Brother Huntsman led us in some songs.

It was a cold and rainy night.  But above the town of Bethlehem a star shone.  The rain drops make it look like lots of stars but it was a single bright star.

Back on the warm bus to head for home.

Back at the center the kids prepare to perform the Nativity Story.  Seth is carrying some Frankincense.

Here the angel is telling Joseph about the upcoming birth of Jesus.
 Mary and Joseph.

Baby Jesus is born.  A little lamb comes to welcome him.

 Here come the wise men.

We have some lovely music and a poem from Sister Hales, Sarah and Rachel.

Between the wrestling several of the kids play Christmas music for all to enjoy.

And off to bed in hopes that Santa can find the children all snuggled in bed at the Jerusalem Center.
