To honor Mary, the mother of Jesus, this church was built in a place they believe the arc of the covenant rested before being carried into Jerusalem.
On top of the church is a huge statue that can be seen miles away. The statue has Mary standing on the Arc of the Covenant, symbolizing Mary carrying the new law or word of God. Interesting.
