The birth place of John the Baptist, where Mary would have gone to tell Elizabeth of her own son to be born, is nestled in a lovely green and tropical feeling village. Surrounded by hills on three sides with slopping terraced hillsides this place had a safe and comforting feeling. It still has a small town feel with out door shopping, restruants, churches and cobble stone streets. A mosque has been built over a natural spring where the locals gathered water. Mary could have drawn water from this spring as she helped with her cousins household chores.

Saint John's church is built down the road from the spring and commemorates the life of John the Baptist.

The other direction from Mary's Spring nestled on the hill side is a huge church complex built to celebrate the Visitation of Mary by an angel.
