Here is the mountain that Gamla (Camels Hump) was built on. It is known as the Masada of the North. Jewish Zealots held out here but finally fell to the Romans by 70AD. Many jumping to there death rather then letting the Romans enslave them. It was a remarkable city. Housing was terraced up the sides of the hill. Josephus described it as a city that appeared suspended in air.
Off we go to explore the remains of Gamla.

When you hear of Christ speaking of the lilies of the field this is the flower he meant. I always thought of the white lily, but these red anemone are what He meant.

Here is a mustard plant in full bloom. They are everywhere, big fields of yellow.
Here we are sitting in the Gamla Synagogue. Brother Jackson gave a great lesson and we could think about what Christ might have said in this place.
ippo's(meaning Horse) is also called Susita. It was right next Ein Gev where we were staying. Like Gamla this city is perched on the top of a high. hill. It would have been a prominent feature on the landscape during Christ's time. It could even have reference the the scripture that you can't hide a city on the hill. (Mathew 5:14)

The paved streets are still very much intact.
Many of the columns are of granite and were shipped in from far away. This was a very wealthy city and had many natural advantages to its occupants over the years.
I have never seen a flower like this. It is huge! Over a foot long! And a deep beautiful magenta.
