Ammunition Hill

Ammunition Hill was the name given to a former Jordanian military post that was taken by IDF paratroopers in a landmark battle during the 1967 Six Day War.  It became a National Heritage and Memorial Site and a museum dedicated to the liberation of Jerusalem in that war, and to the 182 Israeli soldiers who lost their lives in battle.  The boys and Abby had a wonderful time running in the maze-like trenches and climbing on the tank. When they learned these trenches weren't a fun maze for kids but protective trenches where much blood had been spilled it was rather humbling. War is such a devastating evil thing.  It is too bad people can't just love there neighbors.  As I walked around this memorial I wondered how many Palestinians and Jordanians lost their lives.
